There is nothing to be done about it

Image result for public domain image of daisies

There is nothing to be done about it;
the summer daisies nod along the creek bed
each raindrop heavy for only a moment
tracing a line down the curve of a white petal.
One by one, they let it go—
darkness and roots will gather it to heart
like two lovers embrace beneath the sheets.
Is this resiliency? allowing
what bends us,
in time,
to nourish us?
