May 27th Visit of award winning engaged Buddhist Ven. Dr. Pannavati Bhikkhuni

Ven.Pannavatiis known for her ordination of Thai and Cambodian
nuns, her service work with homeless youth, and her ministry to
the Dalit people in India.

An internationally recognized teacher, social activist, and humanitarian, she advocates on behalf of disempowered women and youth and insists on equality and respect in Buddhist life for both female monastic sand lay Sangha.

She is a recipient of the 2011 Women and Engaged Buddhism award and the 2008 Outstanding Buddhist Women's Award. In 2009 she ordained the first Thai Bhikkhunison Thai soil with Thai monks and witnesses, receiving a special commendation from the Princess of Thailand for Humanitarian Acts.
